If you’re one of the many Apple users looking jealously at Samsung owners with their fancy flipping phones, then you might be able to get in on the act sooner than you think, and without leaving behind your preferred brand. That’s right, there’s a foldable iPad on the horizon. You might just have to wait a while for it.
Thanks to some investigative work from tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we know that Apple is working with Anjie Technology to create a carbon fibre stand for the planned foldable iPad and that Kuo believes the finished product to be on the market in 2024. That gives you just over a year to get saving.
The downside to the news of the foldable iPad is that it means Kuo anticipates no new models this year, including no alternative versions of the iPad Pro. Of course, none of this is confirmed outside of Kuo’s reports, but the analyst is widely respected, and multiple outlets are covering their reporting.
It’s interesting to see Apple turn towards the foldable touch-screen devices concept implemented by Samsung as a company that spends much of its time trying to create new trends instead of following them. Whether or not the media giant decides to also implement the folding tech for its line of iPhones is yet to be seen, but there’s no suggestion yet for any major changes to anything besides the classic iPad design.
