What is AFK Arena’s Abyssal Expedition?
Abyssal Expedition is a special timed event in AFK Arena and it’s back in patch 1.110, bringing with it a new theme, map, and boss. Adventurers must travel around the expansive map with members of their guild to defeat difficult enemies and claim rewards.
AFK Arena Clawlossus new boss
This round of the Abyssal Expedition adds a new boss known as Clawlossus. He was once just a regular hermit crab, but as more and more ships sank in the ocean, his body fused with the shipwrecks and he discovered the taste of souls. He now prowls the Sunken Graveyard waiting for more vessels to fall into his trap.
Clawlossus is the new boss for the Abyssal Expedition and he has three attacks:
Attack | Effect |
Drowning Deluge | Clawlossus summons a massive wave, dealing several rounds of damage to all enemies and knocking them back. This destroys enemies’ shields and stuns them. Knockback distance and damage stack with each use of Drowning Deluge. |
Spirit Snatcher | Clawlossus launches flames at enemies in the back, reducing their attack and defence until the end of the battle and dealing AoE damage. Hit enemies become Soulless, immobilising them and dealing damage to their neighbours. This cannot stack or be dispelled. |
Soul Devourer | After an enemy is knocked back or becomes Soulless, Clawlossus deals more damage and takes less damage for a few seconds. This cannot stack. |
AFK Arena Ocean’s Pride
Each environment on the Abyssal Expedition’s map comes with its own effect which you can activate to gain useful buffs for fighting the Clawlossus.
Buff | Effect |
Surging Swamp | At the start of a battle to occupy a tile, increase allied heroes’ attack and defence. These bonuses decrease over time. |
Tidal Freeze | Reduce damage taken when battling Clawlossus. Whenever Clawlossus uses Drowning Deluge, only the first round of damage will knock back allied heroes and destroy shields. |
Flaming Savior | When battling Clawlossus, allied heroes’ damage is increased and Clawlossus’ Enraged bonuses are reduced. Each allied hero is immune to becoming Soulless several times per battle. |

Hero suggestions
For the rest of the challenge, it’s best to pick heroes from the tree of Celerity as this is the most effective for this particular event. You can add in some heroes from the tree of Sustenance to support your team as well.
