Think you’re something of a duelist? Well, soon you’re going to get the chance to put those skills to the test with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel challenger cup, bringing the best of the best face-down trappers and multi-monster summoners to a series of tournaments in the ultimate test of card game skill.
With the title launching less than a year ago, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has already proven its worth with millions picking up Konami’s card game simulator in an attempt to play with the heart of the cards like Yugi Moto himself. From December to mid-January, Konami is working in collaboration with European streamers to bring over eighty separate events in the three-month span, with over 10,000 already signed up to duel.
Unfortunately, only Europeans are viable for this gauntlet of tournaments, but those in the U.S. can still tune in to the festivities via the different influencer channels involved. For those who can play, it’s worth taking part even if you have doubts about your deck as there are plenty of prizes on the line, including a fabulous new OLED Nintendo Switch.
Not only is Konami happily sharing the news of its new tournament series, but the event happens to coincide with the news that Master Duel has hit 50 million downloads this year, helping the franchise reach back up to its once dizzying heights. With other titles like Cross Duel still building a playerbase, and Duel Links continuing to flourish, the future looks good for Yu-Gi-Oh!.
