Anyway, here are all of the Hogwarts Legacy characters you need to know about.
Hogwarts Legacy students
Poppy Sweeting
Poppy is a potential companion and is part of the Hufflepuff house. Furthermore, she has a wonderful and caring personality – we love anybody that shows unconditional kindness to animals. We can’t help but wonder what Hogwarts Legacy beasts we get to meet thanks to her.
Natasi Onai
Natasi is another potential companion you can form a strong friendship with, and it should come as no surprise that they boast a loyal and strong personality with a sense of justice. A perfect example of a Gryffindor if we’ve ever seen one. In fact, they embody the saying, ‘Neville give up!’
Sebastian Sallow
Slytherin’s potential companion candidate is Sebastian Sallow, and he loves to be mischievous, though word on the Snapvine is that he’s also extremely charming and caring to those he loves. Though we’re sure he’s bound to be a Slytherining idiot at times. From what we can tell, he wants to learn the Hogwarts Legacy Dark Arts.
Amit Thakkar
Another fellow student is Amit who has a passion for astronomy and always has the latest tech for spying on the stars. He’s determined to be a historian one day and will lend you his vast knowledge.
Hogwarts Legacy staff
Professor Fig
Eleazar Fig teaches Magical Theory and appears as a mentor of sorts to your student character.
Professor Black
Phineas Nigellus Black, relative of Sirius Black, is the headmaster of Hogwarts. Unlike Dumbledore, however, he is not well-liked among the student body.
Professor Weasley
Professor Matilda Weasley pops up a few times in the story in pivotal quests, along with performing her role as Deputy Headmistress and Transfiguration teacher, much like Professor McGonagall. And yes, she is related to the Weasley family we know and love.
Professor Ronen
The zany Charms master, Professor Abraham Ronen, teaches us how to make feathers float, among other cool tricks. He’s a big fan of games and provides a fun learning experience to his students.
Professor Garlick
The Herbology Professor is Mirabel Garlick, who shows students the wonder of the wizarding flora all around us. She grew up in a muggle household, but then attended Hogwarts where she blossomed. Get it?
Professor Hecat
Dear Dinah Hecat is the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and is head of Ravenclaw house. She left her successful Ministry of Magic career to teach young minds at Hogwarts, and keep them safe.
Professor Onai
Natsai Onai’s mother, Mudiwa, is our Divination professor. She is a seer, though sadly could not predict the unfortunate passing of her own husband.
Professor Shah
Satyavati Shah is Hogwarts Legacy’s Astronomy teacher. She was also raised in the Muggle world, being a big fan of science, but ultimately enrolled in Hogwarts.
Professor Sharp
Potions master Professor Sharp once was an Auror but moved to a quieter life of teaching unruly students how to brew potions of all kinds after an injury.
Professor Howin
Wanna learn about beasts? Head to Bai Howin’s beasts class. She’s in tune with nature and respects the animals around her.
Professor Binns
Why just speak to a ghost when you can be taught by one? That’s right, this brand-new character isn’t just a ghost. He’s actually still a professor, as Cuthbert happily teaches the history of magic. We certainly can’t wait to attend his class and see what other role he has to play in the world.
Madam Kogawa
Chiyo Kogawa is the Flying professor and is found with a broom in hand most of the time. She came to Hogwarts after meeting Professor Weasley in the Japanese Ministry of Magic, who offered her the position.
Other Hogwarts Legacy characters
Nearly Headless Nick
It’s fair to say that all Harry Potter fans know who Nearly Headless Nick is, and it’s undoubtedly great to see him given not many people from the books and films are present in this rendition of the wizarding world.
Deek
Ah, who doesn’t love a house elf? Deek just so happens to be one in Hogwarts Legacy, and we certainly can’t wait to see more of him.
Victor Rookwood
It appears as though Victor is the main antagonist in Hogwarts Legacy. As such, he’s a dark wizard that likely utilises the three unforgivable curses.
Peeves
We’ve all heard of Peeves before, but here he is in the flesh… sort of. The pesky poltergeist is often seen floating through the halls of Hogwarts creating all sorts of mischief.
You can also encounter these characters as you traverse the school grounds and Hogsmeade:
- The Fat Lady
- Ranrok
- Highwing
- Sirona Ryan
- Fastidio
- The Caretaker (he teaches you Hogwarts Legacy Alohomora)
For those lucky people with the PlayStation exclusive content, there are other characters you can meet, like Penny and Cassandra Mason.

Hogwarts Legacy has drawn considerable criticism during its development, largely due to the fact that the creator of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has made a number of transphobic remarks on social media in recent years.
While Avalanche has confirmed that J.K. Rowling is not “directly involved” in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, it is working with “her team” and Portkey Games, a Warner Bros. label dedicated to launching new experiences inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories. It is currently unclear whether she will earn any royalties from the game’s sale, but it is likely given it is based on her original body of work.
