Popular mobile title Cookie Run: Kingdom is expanding its reach, with the game’s developer Devsisters teaming up with Tencent and Changyou to bring the sweet experience to mainland China. In a time where we increasingly see games struggle to meet the CCP’s standards, it’s a real boon for all three parties to bring Devsisters flagship to Shanghai, Shenzhen, and beyond.
With over 50 million cumulative users as of the end of 2022, Cookie Run: Kingdom’s arrival in China is set to boost those numbers even higher. Mobile games are a big deal in the massive Eastern country, with over half a billion playing on mobile devices. Even if just a tenth of China’s mobile gaming enthusiasts tries out Cookie Run: Kingdom that would double the playerbase.
With Devsisters having picked up a Chinese publishing license in March 2023, the three companies are now working hand in hand to prepare Cookie Run: Kingdom for a full release. There isn’t a release date yet for mainland China, but the wheels are in motion, with PR from Devsisters, Tencent, and Changyou already attempting to build a future community through popular online channels WeChat and Weibo.
Thanks to the recent Cookie Run: Kingdom City of Wizards update arriving in Devsisters title, there’s never been a better time to expand the reach of the RPG city-building battle simulator. We’re not sure yet if the developers are set to make any major changes to the game to make it more suitable for Chinese audiences, but we’re keeping an eye out for further updates.
