With Develop:Brighton wrapping up, we’ve got a complete list of Develop:Star Awards winners for 2023. As ever, this prestigious awards event celebrates some of the biggest names in gaming, and some to look out for in the future. With the big mobile prize going to Ustwo Games’ Desta: The Memories Between – one of the more engaging dodgeball games on the market – it’s another great year for indie titles.
Not only did the creators of Monument Valley pick up the Best Mobile Game award, but the studio won the first-ever Sustainability Star award, highlighting Ustwo Games’ commitment to eco-friendly practices. It was also a stellar night for Vampire Survivors developer Poncle, following up on its BAFTA’s success by taking the gong for Best Game Design.
The other big winners consisted of console titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain, God of War Ragnarök, and Hi-Fi Rush, the latter we’re desperately hoping comes to Switch in the future. The biggest award of the evening, the Develop Star Award, went to Horizon series developer Guerilla, with the panel celebrating the wild success of the studio in recent years.
