Chucklefish took to Twitter to give us eager wannabe-witches and wizards a quick update as to Witchbrook’s development and assured us that it’s still very much in the works.
According to their string of Tweets, the team is “still developing, full steam ahead”, but admits that the game is taking a while due to their studio-wide zero-crunch policy. Honestly, if it means the team is in good health and happy, we gladly accept a slightly longer development time.
You can read the full announcement here, then pop your email in the ‘Witchbrook Oracle’ to get updates when they come out, too.
Chucklefish first announced Witchbrook, originally Spellbound, back in 2018, and we got a substantial development update in June 2022, with a fresh Steam page and a whole bunch of screenshots showing off different aspects of the game.
The game features a pixel art style reminiscent of Stardew Valley and is set in a magical school where you take on the role of a student determined to master the mystic arts. There’s the local town to explore, friendships to forge, and mini-games like fishing and crop growing to keep us occupied in our downtime.
While we wait for the Witchbrook release date, check out our recommendations for the best games like The Sims on Switch and mobile, and of course, the best games like Stardew Valley.
