We’re reporting live from Digital Dragons just after the conclusion of the Digital Dragons Awards 2023 gala. Each year the awards ceremony recognises the best of the Polish games industry, which is made up of over 400 studios.
Mobile and Switch games like Trek to Yomi, Railbound, and Kao the Kangaroo were nominated across multiple categories but were pipped to the post by their competitors. Draw Distance’s Serial Cleaners picked up the award for Best Polish Game Art for its graffiti-inspired style.
Digital Dragons honoured Lucasz Hacura, CEO of Anshar Studios, with this year’s Special Recognition award. His studio has worked on a huge array of games including Divinity: Original Sin 2, Darksiders 3, and its original isometric RPG title Gamedec. Lucasz said, “I’m super honoured to receive this award, and hope to continue to contribute to [the] expansion of Polish game dev.”
The biggest award of the night for the Best Polish Game went to Dying Light 2, which also scooped up the award for Best Polish Game Design. FromSoftware’s Elden Ring took home the title of Best Foreign game, beating out Return To Monkey Island, Stray, and others.
That’s a wrap on day one of Digital Dragons 2023! We’ll continue bringing you the latest news from the show floor tomorrow, but in the meantime check out our Trek to Yomi Switch review or our Elden Ring Switch guide.
