If there’s something Pokémon players know how to do, it’s exploit Game Freak’s monster-taming titles. From messing with Missingo, to the old elastic band on the A-button in Ruby and Sapphire gaining endless steps – and daycare levels – trying to cycle up mud slopes, and now someone has created their very own Pokémon Scarlet and Violet EXP farming machine, using one of the late game mechanics to endlessly build EXP.
While it’s not exactly an in-game exploit, Reddit user Epicninja343’s creation allows them to use the Academy Ace tournament as consistent fuel for levelling, with a level 100 Sylveon proving enough of a beatstick to make its way through the battles with ease, providing a stellar EXP boost for the rest of the party. Just like the old DIY daycare cycling method from Ruby and Sapphire, the trick is in a constant trigger to the A button, something Epicninja343 has achieved with their wacky jerry-rigged contraption.
It’s worth saying that some Reddit users have pointed out that the same result is possible with a Switch controller with turbo buttons, but, well, that’s just not as much fun as this doohickey, is it? Better still, the Sylveon from the clip is equipped with an amulet coin, meaning that our friend Epicninja343 isn’t just rolling in EXP, but they’re also raking up some serious Pokédollars.
If you want to create your own Pokémon Scarlet and Violet EXP farming machine, you can see from the clip that all you need to do is create something with a consistent motion to achieve the same results. Remember that bit in the Simpsons where Homer uses a drinking bird to keep pressing Y on his keyboard? It’s worth a try.
