Harvestella is another entry in a long-lasting genre with a little spin. Sure, Harvest Moon popularised farming games with social aspects in the late 90s, then Animal Crossing sort of did its own thing around social stuff in the early noughties. But Harvestella takes the route that Rune Factory takes – what if farming, but the world is also ending and full of monsters trying to kill you?
Pretty cool, right? But, you can’t make a good farming social sim with deadly elements if the basics aren’t there. There are core components of any of these sorts of games: planting and watering, talking and walking. And that’s why Harvestella’s fishing is so key. If I can’t chill out and catch some floppy food, how am I meant to save the world?
So, head down for some fishy facts, from the different things you can catch (surprise! It’s not just fish) and what to do with those things, to how your location can affect what you catch, among a few other tidbits. We’re still a little while from the Harvestella release date, so we don’t have that much information, but keep your eyes peeled as we’ll update as soon as any new info appears.
Okay, let’s get cooking.
Harvestella fishing
To start fishing in Harvestella, you need to unlock the fishing basics from the Lethe general goods store for 800 Grilla. From there, you just need to head to one of the fishing spots marked out on the map and get reeling.
Any fish you catch can either be shipped for money or kept for use in Harvestella’s cooking mechanic. You can also upgrade your fishing rod to catch even rarer fish later in the game, once again through Lethe’s general good store.
How do you fish in Harvestella?
Harvestella fishing is super easy. As mentioned above, you just need to cast a line at one of the marked fishing spots, then keep an eye on your bait. It bobs a few times, but you should only press ‘catch’ when the bait is entirely submerged, and the white splashes gather around it.
That’s it – no tricky quick time events or meters, just a bit of patience and a tap of the button at the right time to snag your catch.
That’s all we’ve got on Harvestella fishing for now, but we’ll be sure to update this guide as we continue our journy. In the meantime, check out our Harvestella jobs, Harvestella crafting, Harvestella factions, and Harvestella characters to get on top of all the other exciting mechanics.
