Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s flux constructs are excellently finicky mini-bosses littered throughout the sky islands. Completely made of cubes, they start out as humanoid colossuses before becoming strange UFO-like platforms. We’re here to help you get to grips with all that wacky nonsense so you can reap the rewards.
So, head below for TotK flux construct locations, plus a little fighting guide for their different levels. Once you’re all done, check out our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom review for a lengthy rundown. Or we’ve got Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom armor, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom koroks, and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom shrine guides to help you on your adventure.
Anyway, let’s flex with some Zelda: TotK flux constructs.
What are Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s flux constructs?
Zelda: TotK’s flux constructs are strange mechanical minibosses made up of dozens of cubes. They start as a humanoid figure – cubes linked up into the crude shape of a person – before becoming flying platforms.
They have different levels of difficulty, too. So far, we’ve found three levels of flux construct, each behaving differently from the other. Where they come from and what they are is more of a mystery. Did Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Zonai build these to protect their lands? Perhaps, but it’s hard to say with any certainty.

In the photo above, you can see a circular platform in the sky. These islands are all over Tears of the Kingdom’s map. This is where you can find flux constructs. Shoot up into the air from one of the many Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom towers and pop open the map, then glide towards one to take on this tough miniboss.
How do I defeat Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom flux constructs?
Defeating Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s flux constructs can be tricky if you don’t know what to do, but there are some basic things to understand before jumping into the fight.
Flux constructs have one cube in their makeup that is a different colour – this is the critical point to aim for with a barrage of arrows. Around halfway through the fight, these cube-based humanoid robots turn into floating UFO-like platforms – so you need to find a way to get up high and wail away on their critical point and victory should be yours.
However, as there are different types of flux construct, there are different strategies you need to employ. Here’s a quick guide to each type:

The base-level Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom constructs may be simple, but they’re by no means easy. You need to find the one block in their makeup glowing a different color and fire away at it with arrows until the miniboss bursts open, scattering its blocks everywhere.
In stage one, the block should be easy to see. Watch out for the enemy’s attacks – sometimes it flies across the platform to you, which means it’s seconds away from pounding the ground for a big attack with wide AoE. Just run away from this and circle back around.
In stage two, the construct turns into a floating platform and spits out a handful of cubes. You can either fly into the air with one of the Zonai devices that might litter the arena, or use recall on the cube to fly back towards the platform. Here, just wail away at the weak spot.
In the final stage, the cubes turn into one big cube and roll around. Shoot the weak spot when it’s visible, but stay away from the enemy’s cube smash.
Big tip time: you can use ultrahand on the weak spot – try this out in different phases and see what happens.

The second level of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom flux construct isn’t particularly different to the first. The same three stages apply, this time it’s just slightly stronger. Follow the tips laid out for the above boss and make sure you’re well prepared, and you’ll be okay.

The third level of flux construct is a little different. This time it has the power to move its weak, glowing cube to a different bit of its construction at will. Trying to fire an arrow at it or use ultrahand is near impossible. Luckily, our favorite buddy Link can slow down time, which sure helps.
The stages are the same as the lower-level constructs, but, in order to hit the weak spot, you need to launch Link into the air, fire an arrow while gliding – which slows down time – and just fire away on the weak spot until the construct deconstructs. Once deconstructed, you can run over to its weak spot and use a powerful weapon on it. Good luck!
