The Games for Change Awards are back for 2023, with some of our favorite titles from the last year picking up nominations. The long list includes some of the best mobile games and Switch titles we played in the last year, including Gerda: A Flame in Winter, Beecarbonize, A Space for the Unbound, and more.
This year’s Games for Change Awards is a celebration of twenty years of the organization heralding ethical and eco-friendly practices in the industry. As you might expect for an award ceremony of this nature, there are some interesting categories like Best Health Game and Best Learning Game, as well as the classics such as Best Gameplay and Most Innovative Game. You can check out the full nominations in the Games for Change Twitter thread.
The event itself is set to go ahead on July 19, 2023, at the Times Center & Microsoft Times Square in New York City. It’s not just the awards, though. The prize-giving ceremony is part of the larger Games for Change Festival, bringing together the finest minds in the industry to discuss practices, civic engagement, and environmental issues in wider gaming.
