If you want to summon the toughest monsters in Konami’s four-player duelling sim, you’re going to need to get your hands on some Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel gems. Fortunately, there are a few ways you can get the precious in-game resources, and you don’t need to spend all of your own money to make sure your deck is up to scratch.
So, we’ve put together this Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel gems guide to tell you how you can fill your coffers to pick up the best cards and monsters from the get-go. Cross Duel is the first Yu-Gi-Oh! title to use a gacha mechanic for acquiring new monsters, so you’re going to need as many gems as you can amass to make sure you don’t fall behind.
If you want to know what to spend your hard-earned gems on, or if you want to reset your deck before trying to improve it, check out our Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel tier list. How to get Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel gems
There’s multiple ways to pick up some extra Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel gems to enhance your monsters or pick up new ones for your deck. Below you can find all our tried and trusted methods for picking up gems, and we will be sure to update this page if we figure out any other ways of grabbing some Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel free currency.
Log-in bonuses
As is the case with both Master Duel and Duel Links, Konami occasionally run log-in bonus giveaways to celebrate special events, anniversaries, and more. You should receive a notification each time a log-in bonus event is running, but be sure to check your in-game notifications to make sure you’ve not missed any freebies.
Ranked duels
If you’ve got a deck worthy of taking on other players, the best way to pick up some extra gems is through Cross Duel’s ranked duels mode. This is one of the more difficult methods of picking up guaranteed gems, as, if you don’t have a great deck, you may struggle to beat your opponents and reap the rewards. But once your feet are off the ground, you should make the most of the gems that ranked duels have on offer.
With ranked duels, you can pick up a few gems depending on your individual duel results, but the big rewards come at the end of the season. The table below indicates how many gems you can pick up for each.
Rank | Rank up bonus | Season rewards | Points needed for rank up |
Rookie | – | – | 0 |
Bronze two | 100 gems | 100 gems | 20 |
Bronze one | 100 gems | 150 gems | 50 |
Silver two | – | 200 gems | 90 |
Silver one | 100 gems | 250 gems | 150 |
Gold three | 100 gems | 300 gems | 220 |
Gold two | 100 gems | 350 gems | 300 |
Gold one | 100 gems | 400 gems | 380 |
Raid duels
Just like ranked duels, you can earn gems in raid duels, and the more you play means the more you can get your hands on. Not only will you pick up gems for beating individual raid bosses, but you can boost your raid grade level throughout the season from H to a top mark of A, and the higher your grade the more gems you receive at the end of the season.
Tutorials
You can pick up 50 Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel gems for each duel tutorial you complete in the challenge duel menu (you can find this in the top-right corner of the screen). There are 400+ gems on offer for completing all the challenge duels, and you might learn some new techniques through the tutorials, so it’s well worth checking out.
There you have it, all the ways we can recommend to pick up some Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel gems. For more details on the latest card game sim out our Konami, check out our Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel interview with developer Yuya Takayanagi.
