If you’ve ever wondered how to create your own Roblox GFX, you’ve come to the right place. Creating your own GFX is the best way to show off your Roblox avatar and designs. Everyone can easily take a screenshot of their avatar in-game, but it takes real work and dedication to make an incredible Roblox GFX.
Roblox GFX are high-quality images with graphics that look far better than anything seen in-game. Using Blender, the free and open-source graphics software used primarily to create animated films and games, Roblox fans take their character models from the game and import them into the application. This same process can also be applied to create animations using Roblox models, though this process is extremely time consuming.
Unsure whether you have any designs worthy of a GFX? Check out our Roblox Catalog guide which helps players navigate the avatar shop to find unique designs. It’s also worth taking a look at our Roblox promo codes guide to see if there’s anything worth picking up for free.
everything you need to know about roblox gfx:
System requirements
The biggest hurdle in creating a Roblox GFX is having a powerful computer capable of running Blender. Though the Roblox models may seem very basic, Blender creates high-quality visuals by rendering photorealistic images. That being said, typically the better an image looks, the more time the user has spent painstakingly building their scene. The minimum system requirements for creating your own Roblox GFX are:
- 64-bit dual core 2Ghz CPU with SSE2 support
- 4 GB RAM
- 1280×768 display
- Mouse, trackpad or pen and tablet
- Graphics card with 1 GB RAM, OpenGL 3.3
- Less than 10 year old
The rendering process for still images can take a while depending on the complexity of the scene, but this step is virtually impossible on a slow computer. Using a slow machine will also make the initial posing process much more difficult as it will take longer to do basic tasks. It’s worth mentioning that you can use a Mac, but the same requirements still apply.
Getting started
As we’ve mentioned numerous times, you’ll need a copy of Blender. To export your Roblox models, you’ll need to have the game installed to access Roblox Studio. An optional application worth trying out is Adobe Photoshop. This powerful image editing software can transform good images into great ones, but it’s not entirely necessary if you learn how to use Blender effectively. Unlike Blender and Roblox, which are both free, Adobe Photoshop has a subscription fee, so it’s worth utilising the free trial before spending any hard cash.
Importing Roblox models into Blender
Importing models from Roblox is a relatively straightforward task, but it’s easy to get lost without clear instructions. Follow these quick steps access your Roblox avatar and items:
- Open up Roblox Studio
- Select the Baseplate template
- Expand the View tab and open up the Properties and Explorer boxes
- Click Toolbox to access the Roblox models
- Go back to the Home tab and press Play to load up your avatar
- Once your avatar has appeared on the screen, take a look at the Explorer window and open up the Workspace menu
- Right click your avatar’s name from the Workspace menu and press Export Selection
- Save the file in a location that you can access from Blender
By following these steps, you now have a copy of your Roblox avatar stored. Though you could import this into Blender as is, you’ll probably want to find a suitable background to make the GFX interesting. You can make your own backgrounds in Roblox Studio using the Toolbox, or you can download other creator’s backgrounds using the search feature.
Posing Roblox models in Blender
Okay, so this is where things get very complicated. When it comes to creating Roblox GFX, we’d recommend checking out two YouTubers: AureIina and Mxddsie. They both have excellent tutorial videos that explain the complex features of Blender in simple terms.
Blender is one of the most powerful animation tools available, and spending the time to learn how it works by posing Roblox models will teach you the fundamentals. This is one of those instances where the more time you spend messing around in the program, the better you’ll become overall. Practice does make perfect, after all.
That should clear up everything there is to know about Roblox GFX. Roblox allows players to express their creativity in many ways, whether it’s through creating Roblox shirt templates, or making Roblox song IDs to add to a soundtrack. Creating a unique GFX is difficult, but the skills learnt along the way can get you started on a career in animation, if you wanted to take it that far.
