About Us

Canadian Architect is a magazine for architects and related professionals practicing in Canada and has been in continuous publication since 1955. This national review of design and practice documents significant architecture and design from across the country and features articles on current practice, building technology, and social issues affecting architecture.

Canadian Architect  is the journal of record of two national professional associations: the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada  (RAIC) and the AIA Canada Society and is the  official magazine  of each association – carrying both the RAIC Journal  and the AIA Canada Journal within the pages of Canadian Architect magazine.

Canadian Architect has been honoured with numerous awards and nominations in the Canadian Business Press annual Kenneth R. Wilson Awards and has also been consistently recognized in Canada’s National Magazine Awards as well being named Best Publisher in the 2020 National Magazine Awards: B2B.

For over 40 years, Canadian Architect has sponsored an annual national awards program, the only national awards that recognize projects in the design stage. Each year, submissions are due in late September, judging takes place in early October and the winning schemes are published in a special issue every December.
