Let’s Talk About…the Remix: A Discussion on Heritage and Architecture
When is a remix better than the original classic? Sampling an oldie, musicians make it relevant to today’s beats. Can the same be done to our environment? Design Talks Institute (d.talks) in Calgary would like to explore how modern interventions can be appropriate for the salvation of existing spaces. Join them on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 as they explore what gives value to heritage, from the archeological, romantic, sustainable and practical. What conditions allow for a sympathetic addition, uniting new and old both sensitively and powerfully?
The panellists for this event are: Rollin Stanley, City of Calgary; Mairi + Kevin Nyhoff, Nyhoff Architecture; and John Pentland, Hillhurst United Church. Cynthia Klaassen moderates.
The discussion talks place from 5:30pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the National Music Centre, located at 134 11th Ave SE in Calgary.
The cost is $12 for adults, and $5 for students. To purchase tickets, please visit http://dtalksremix.eventbrite.ca.
