Urban Strategies wins three 2014 Canadian Institute of Planners Awards

Toronto-based Urban Strategies recently won three 2014 Canadian Institute of Planners Awards.

The Waterloo Region Central Transit Corridor won a City and Regional Planning Award of Excellence. The Region of Waterloo is investing in a new rapid-transit line connecting Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo – a $818-million infrastructure investment. Urban Strategies’ community building strategy identifies key directions for building communities, guiding development, and moving people within, to, and from this corridor.

The Alexandra Park Revitalization Plan won a Neighbourhood Planning Award of Excellence. Together with Toronto Community Housing Corporation, the design team worked with the community on a plan to improve housing and green space and found ways to create more recreational and economic opportunities, as well as to create a more environmentally sustainable neighbourhood.

Complete Streets for Niagara won a Sustainable Mobility Transportation and Infrastructure Award of Merit. Urban Strategies developed a toolkit for the Niagara Complete Streets Project that helps municipalities within the Niagara Region work with the public to create a vision and prioritize key elements for the implementation of local complete streets.
