Taking place from February 19-23, 2014 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto, the Canadian Art Foundation is presenting the 11th annual Reel Artists Film Festival. As North America’s only festival devoted exclusively to documentary films about visual art and artists, they showcase international feature-length and short documentaries that address challenges and questions raised by artists.
This year’s selection of films takes audiences behind the scenes, as artists experiment with new concepts, materials and subjects in their practices. Issues of representation, legacy and private-versus-public are explored in these revealing and thought-provoking films. Be sure to attend for exciting interviews and panel conversations that follow many of the screenings. This additional content with famed artists, directors and art experts is always an exciting part of the Reel Artists Film Festival programming.
Opening night features the world premiere of Kehinde Wiley: An Economy of Grace, followed by other highlights over the next days such as Nan Goldin: I Remember Your Face, Richard Deacon – In Between, Art Bin, and When Attitudes Become Form: Bern 1969/Venice 2013 – which features Germano Celant, in dialogue with Thomas Demand and Rem Koolhaas.
Single tickets are $ 12 ($8 for students and seniors). Festival passes are $75.
