The Association des architectes en pratique privée du Québec (AAPQ) recently awarded the honorary member title to France Vanlaethem.

The Association des architectes en pratique privée du Québec (AAPPQ) recently awarded the honorary member title to France Vanlaethem, professor emeritus at UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal) and heritage consultant.
The AAPPQ honored Vanlaethem for her significant commitment and contribution to the knowledge and preservation of modern architectural heritage.
As a professor emeritus at UQAM’s École du design, as well as through her various publications and involvement with the Docomomo (an organization dedicated to the documentation, promotion, and preservation of modern architecture), Vanlaethem plays an active role in keeping the memory alive as well as the work of architects.
Vanlaethem has also served as the editor-in-chief for Architecture Québec magazine, curated several exhibitions, and is the author of several books, notably on the history and preservation of modern architecture in Canada.
As a result, she plays a major role in ensuring the preservation of Quebec’s built heritage, an essential component of the province’s cultural identity.
