McKinley Studios has introduced Commonplace, a line of manufactured family homes. The project is founded by Walker McKinley, Edmund Lee, and Richard Frontain, with a commitment to environmental sustainability, price stability, and safety.

The project aims to steer away from traditional housing models, and instead, embraces the concept of essential living.

The series of designs revolves around an enhanced indoor-outdoor lifestyle, and the collection is unified by the central focal point of a courtyard.

Commonplace offers a selection of small, medium, and large options, each built with lightweight, polymerized concrete panels. The homes aim to be durable and resistant to fire, pests, and mold, and are designed using embodied carbon reduction, waste reduction strategies, and energy modeling.

Equipped with triple-glazed windows and high R-value roof and wall assemblies, the homes exceed Step Four energy codes and each residence features energy-efficient appliances, lighting fixtures, and water-saving plumbing fixtures.

“These homes are an expression of the essential life: modest, practical, and elegantly simple,” said Mckinley, principal architect.
