DIALOG to host fourth International Women’s Day panel

In celebration of International Women's Day, DIALOG will be hosting its fourth annual "Cities from Her Perspective" event.

DIALOG’s Edmonton studio will be hosting its annual “Cities from Her Perspective” event in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event will feature a panel of women thought leaders and advocates and will take place at the Revillon/Boardwalk Atrium, located at 10350 102 Avenue in Northwest Edmonton. This year’s conversation will revolve around  the complex nature of the housing crisis through the perspective of women and will take place Friday, March 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. MST.

“Edmonton, like so many cities, is facing crisis in and around our downtown,” said Jill Robertson, partner and landscape architect at DIALOG. “Women and other equity-deserving groups are often side-lined in the decision making process and face disproportional impact to the lack of access to safe, affordable, and inclusive housing.”

The panel includes Member of the Legislative Assembly Janis Irwin, Affordable Housing & Homelessness at City of Edmonton director, Christel Kjenner, associate professor at the University of Alberta and director of housing for health, executive director of the Downtown Business Association, Puneeta McBryan, and CEO of Homeward Trust, Susan McGee.

“This year, we want to shine a light on the complex and intersectional nature of the housing crisis and have invited key thought leaders and advocates on this topic, all who happen to be women. Join us for our annual discussion that seeks to provoke action, create connections, empower diverse voices, and amplify inclusive city building – all from Her Perspective,” reads the event page.

Facilitating this year’s conversation is DIALOG’s Tai Ziola and Jill Robertson.

The event aims to provoke action, create connections, empower diverse voices, and amplify inclusivity surrounding this topic all from a women’s perspective. If time permits, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Tickets are required on a donation basis of a minimum $5, and all proceeds will be donated to Women Building Futures.
