Ya ha ha! You found a TotK korok – a lil’ tree-patterned dude that’s very excited to see you and gives you the gift of a seed. But how many Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom koroks are there, what can you do with the seeds, and which puzzles should you look for? Well, read on to find out. How many Korok seeds are there in Tears of the Kingdom?
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are 1,000 korok seeds to find. That’s more than in Breath of the Wild. There’s one caveat here – only 800 come from puzzles and the other 200 are from helping koroks get back to their friends. You get two per interaction, so that makes one hundred separated pairs of koroks to reunite. We better get cracking on making some contraptions for transporting koroks around!

What are the korok puzzle types in Tears of the Kingdom?
Similar to Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom’s koroks are hiding all over Hyrule, in every nook and cranny. It’s a true feat to find them all, so here’s a list of all the Tears of the Kingdom korok puzzle types you need to look for while adventuring through surface and sky.
- Pick up a rock – some rocks hide under piles of burnable leaves
- Reunite a lost korok with it’s friend
- Complete a metal block puzzle
- Complete a stone-shaped puzzle. You can use a weapon with a rock fused to it here – who knew?
- Place a boulder in a Y-shaped wooden holder
- Fix the roof of a shelter
- Catch a dandelion seed
- Pop balloons that appear near a pinwheel
- Pull a stuck cork out with force (not the ultrahand ability)
- Jump on a large lily pad to submerge it
- Catch sparkles circling on the ground
- Dive into a ring of leaves in the water
- Time trials – stand on a stump marked with a leaf, then make it to the goal within the time
- Shoot the hanging and hidden clay pots
- Offer an apple to statues with a bowl in front of them
- Follow a yellow flower as it reappears until it turns white
- Climb up a tall spire or flagpole and examine the glowing sparkles
- Ring a bell in a tower, sometimes with Ultrahand, sometimes by other means (try throwing an octorok balloon at it!)
- Ascend through a tree stump with three leaves on it
- Follow the red metal sign posts
What do I do with Korok seed in Tears of the Kingdom?
The spirited musician of the forest, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Hestu, is back to accept our seeds in exchange for expanding our inventory stashes of bows, weapons, and shields. This is of course a very helpful service and we recommend picking up TotK korok seeds whenever you come across them so you can hold as many items as possible.
What’s the reward for getting all the Tears of the Kingdom korok seeds?
So, you’ve collected all 1,000 Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom seeds. Must be time for a grandiose reward, right? Well, it’s Hestu’s gift – a suspiciously shaped golden item. What is it? While we don’t know for sure, it smells bad, so draw your own conclusions. You can now also ask Hestu to dance whenever you want, including both the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom celebratory dances.
How do I get into the Korok Forest in Tears of the Kingdom?
The TotK Korok Forest can be a head-scratcher for any adventurer who wants to pay the Deku Tree a visit. You can’t just walk in, you can’t fly in, and you can’t unlock any shrines to teleport inside it. So what do you do? Go under it.
In order to access the inner area of the misty woodland, you need to head to the depths. The easiest way to locate the underside of the Lost Woods is to jump down the Minshi Woods chasm southeast of the forest. Once you’re in the deep and dark depths, navigate to the center of the Lost Woods, right under the Deku Tree, and simply ascend through the ceiling. Then you find yourself in the woods, where an eerie mood has taken over.
The Deku Tree and its surrounding TotK koroks all appear to have succumbed to the gloom caused by the Upheaval. The Deku Tree comments that his stomach doesn’t feel well, indicating we should investigate inside. Head inside and drop down the hole at the back of the inner area. Here, you meet some lovely gloom hands, which you need to beat, and then surprise! There’s more! Phantom Ganon pops up, ready for round two with Link after the hands fall. This can be a tough battle, so prepare ahead before you hop into the darkness.
Once you defeat the horrifying substances inside the Deku Tree, head back up to the surface and speak to him again, where you’ll get back on track and find all of TotK’s koroks back to their usual selves.
