Pokémon Scarlet and Violet let’s go
What is the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet let’s go feature?
A new element in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the Let’s Go feature allows you to call upon one Pokémon to explore the region of Paldea with the trainer as you explore, and initiate auto-battles that take no interaction to complete. These battles happen while you walk around, allowing you to explore, gather resources, and continue your adventure while your Pokémon defeats another and gains experience and materials.
While the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet let’s go feature sounds like a great way to earn experience, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have confirmed that players earn less experience from auto-battles. Instead, the main feature is to gather items used for crafting TMs and ingredients for sandwiches. For instance, Lechonk will drop Lechonk hair. So while it’s not the quickest way to gain experience, it’s a handy addition to regular battles, which means you can continue to explore while your Pokémon works.
What are Pokémon Scarlet and Violet auto-battles?
A part of the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet let’s go mechanic, auto-battles are battles between a Pokémon using the let’s go technique, and low-level wild Pokémon. These battles take no interaction and happen completely on their own while you continue to walk around. You can still watch these battles, but you won’t be able to command your Pokémon, instead, they use moves as they see fit.
Can I encounter a shiny during a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet let’s go battle?
Be careful when you use the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet let’s go feature, as Casey DeFreitas at IGN has confirmed that you can indeed encounter shiny Pokémon, so there’s a chance you could wipe them out before you notice. Luckily, you have two things on your side. Firstly Pokémon Scarlet and Violet shiny Pokémon are visible in the overworld, so if you’re paying attention you should be able to spot them. Secondly, you can recall your Pokémon even while they are in a let’s go auto-battle. So long as you catch them before they KO the shiny Pokémon, you still have a chance to encounter it normally and throw a Pokéball.
