Just Dance has just reached the next level of competition as Ubisoft is collaborating with the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) to add Just Dance to the Olympic Esports Series 2023. The event organisers will invite former athletes from the Just Dance World Cup to compete at the live finals in Singapore in June.
The Olympic Esports Week 2023 features virtual versions of nine different Olympic sports including dance, baseball, and cycling. Ticket holders can also expect a range of sports games and simulators to be on display and available to try out free of charge.
Zeynep Gençağa, Senior Director, Head of Regions, of Esports and Competitive Gaming at Ubisoft said, “Just Dance has one of the most enthusiastic, bright, and dedicated communities in the world and we’re excited to see our players shine and compete this summer in Singapore.”
This collaboration has its benefits for the Olympic dance scene as well as giving esports more credibility alongside traditional sporting events. WDSF President Shawn Tay said, “with DanceSport growing in popularity around the world, it was a logical next step for us to enter into the virtual realm.
“The 2023 Olympic Esports Series will now showcase this terrific fusion of our two worlds and we cannot wait to see the best of the Just Dance community compete this summer in Singapore.”
