We’re on the ground at MWC bringing you all the latest happenings in mobile technology, and we’ve got another big reveal from the industry floor. After covering the OnePlus 11 cooling concept yesterday, we now have confirmation that something exciting is coming to the market in the form of the OnePlus foldable smartphone, now confirmed for a 2023 release.
We don’t know all too much about the OnePlus foldable smartphone, with no official title for the phone available yet and no tech specs from the reveal. There’s a quote from Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, though, with the press release stating, “our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects”. So, we’re expecting a really exciting piece of kit here.
The press release also includes OnePlus’ plans to develop further into the future, with sights on interconnectivity between its mobile and other technologies. During the OnePlus foldable reveal panel, the company shared some of its plans to develop a smart ecosystem in the next three-to-five years, with the eventual goal of seamless connectivity between your devices.
The reveal of a Oneplus foldable smartphone shows the industry interest and investment surrounding foldable technology at the moment. The news arrives just a day after Honor launched its Magic VS, another compact foldable device, so it looks like Samsung finally has some real competition on the foldable front.
