Splatoon is a series stuffed to the gills with fish, cephalopods, undersea molluscs, and just about any other type of underwater creature you can imagine. But crucially, the series always makes them cute or cool. Well, meet Splatoon 3’s Shelly and Donny, the adorable new merchants running Ammo Knights in Inkopolis, that truly put this theory to the test.
As Sheldon currently works in Splatsville in Splatoon 3, it seems his previous establishment is now in the hands of his protéges, Shelly and Donny. The tiny twosome are horseshoe crabs, a frankly monstrous abomination to humankind that even my marine creature-loving soul often recoils in horror when thinking about. Well, these are the cutest horseshoe crabs we’ve ever seen, so we don’t plan to yeet them back into the ocean.
Splatoon 3 players that purchase the expansion pass have access to Inkopolis. This replaces the familiar Splatsville stomping grounds but keeps a similar selection of weapons, headgear, and more. The difference is purely cosmetic, so you can start your matches from your hub of choice without worrying about missing anything. Shelly, Donny, and Inkopolis all appear as part of wave one of the Splatoon 3 DLC, slated for Spring 2023. Wave two includes the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC and swims onto shore later this year.
