Okay, let’s get bodacious with TotK shield surfing.
How do I shield surf in Tears of the Kingdom?
It’s easy to shield surf in Tears of the Kingdom, you just have to know how to do it. Here are the steps:
- Make sure you have a shield equipped
- Wield it with ZR (press B beforehand if you have a two-handed weapon drawn)
- Press X to jump up
- Press A to flip the shield under Link’s feet
- Surf away!
TotK’s shield surf mechanic can knock a lot of durability out of a shield, so be careful. Of course, rules in TotK are like the real world – you can’t shield surf if you’ve fused a bulky item to your shield, you’re on uneven ground, or there’s no slope, so keep that in mind.
