Surfing games could be a great way to get a high-octane beach holiday without splashing the cash. Sadly, there aren’t too many of them on Switch and mobile, making it hard to hit the waves from the comfort of your own home.
Still, we’ve grabbed as many surfing games as are worth checking out. Once you’ve given them a look, check out our Batman games, FPS games, and scooter games for even more fun stuff. Plus, we can help you play Tic-Tac-Toe and play Snake on Switch or mobile for some retro fun time.
Anyway, here are some bodacious surfing game suggestions:
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – Switch
Mario is everybody’s friend, and he has never looked better than when on the surfboard in his wetsuit. And while not everyone loves Sonic, he looks alright too. Not only that, but Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 has many more sports to give a go, so if you get bored of surfing then you don’t have to buy a brand new game for more athletic action. For more Mazza, check out our favourite Mario characters, Mario Kart characters, and Mario and Luigi costumes for even more.
Surfingers – Switch and mobile
From the developers behind Timberman comes Surfingers, an arcade game that says it’s about surfing, and is to some extent, but really it’s just a quick side-scrolling endless runner-type thingy. You move your character all around, dodging obstacles and exploring various biomes. And, hopefully, you have a good time.
Wavetale – Switch
In our Wavetale Switch review, we said of the island exploration game that it’s “lovely, slick, flippy, and on Switch. While its bodacious waves’ lusciousness may fade with the frame rate, the game is still a joy to play. With slick movement at its centre, the different gamey aspects, delicious art style, and general cohesiveness lend it a luxury beyond foundational goodness.” Sounds pretty good – the best thing about Wavetale is surfing, so definitely worth a look.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Switch
Okay, now we’re into that “this is only sorta a surfing game, sorry” section. Still, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s land surfing sure is pretty fun. Link leaps up, flips his shield under his feet, and can glide down any large mountain he may have just summited. Sure, it damages your shield, but it’s also a fun ride. Oh, and the rest of the game is pretty darn neat. And you can get even more assistance with our BotW Link, BotW recipe, BotW map, and BotW Zelda guides.
Subway Surfers – mobile
Subway Surfers may not use a surfboard, but these folks glide across trains atop rails like water is washing them around. It’s also one of the best mobile games out there, top of the endless runner genre, and perfect for wasting a bunch of time with. It’s a different sort of surfing, but it’s still going on my list.
Pupperazzi – Switch
If you like surfboards and you like dogs, have you ever tried to put the two together? Well, Pupperazzi has, and while the gameplay loop has you snapping a bunch doggies, some of them are on surfboards. Check out our Pupperazzi review for more convincing, but if dogs on surfboards haven’t convinced you, I don’t know how to help.
Anyway, there you have surfing games. We’ve also got a load of car games, relaxing games, and battle royale games for more recommendations.
