So, let’s step into the moonlight and get to our list of the best werewolf games.
The Wolf Among Us – Switch and mobile
Bigby Wolf is by far the baddest werewolf on our list but still manages to be the protagonist of this series. He finds himself as the sheriff of Fabletown, a place full of characters from folklore and old-timey fiction. If it isn’t obvious by now, Bigby Wolf is the reformed Big Bad Wolf, still able to transform into his beastly form if the scenario requires it. The Wolf Among Us series is a favourite here at Pocket Tactics, and we think it might be some of the best work to come out of Telltale Games. So what are you waiting for? Bigby’s got a case to solve!
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls – mobile and Apple Arcade
While you might not play as a werewolf in Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, there’s certainly enough of them about to consider it a contender for this list. It’s not just your run-of-the-mill Castlevania werewolves here either, this game includes some interesting variations on the series’ favourite minion, including the shadow werewolf and divine werewolf. Outside of the beasties you need to battle, Grimoire of Souls is an excellent addition to the Castlevania series, and Apple Arcade users can pick it up for free.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Switch
All you need is one bite from a werewolf and Skyrim becomes one of the best gothic RPGs out there. Sure, there are other things to become, a vampire, a wizard, a humble adventurer, but playing through Skyrim as a werewolf completely changes the experience, taking away your ability to sleep, wear clothes, and pickpocket, while making you immune to disease and vampirism with increased hand-to-hand combat power. As a werewolf, you can easily take out a giant in a couple of hits, so it’s worth revisiting Skyrim under a full moon to check it out.

Werewolf Tycoon – mobile
We’ve got a few wacky picks on our list of the best werewolf games, but Werewolf Tycoon has to be the wildest of them all. Simply put, this game is about eating as many unsuspecting humans as possible while avoiding getting found out. So, you need to swallow up every poor passer-by that you happen to encounter in the cold light of the full moon. For such a simple concept, the execution of this one makes for a surprisingly entertaining tycoon title, and there’s some fantastic 16-bit style art to make it all look a bit nicer. For a bonus, keep your eyes peeled for an in-game UFO!
Nations of Darkness – mobile
If there’s one thing we know werewolves love to do, it’s fighting vampires. In Nations of Darkness, you take on a legion of gothic monsters with your werewolf leading the pack. With countless quests to go on, plenty of variations on the werewolf trope, and some surprisingly deep mechanics in the city-building department, this free-to-play title is sure to keep you marching on until sunrise.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest – Switch
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest is a visual novel that really makes the most of the werewolf games concept, employing the use of several horror tropes to make for a game that we may as well call the Blair Werewolf Project. If spooky stories and stunning gothic visuals are what you’re looking for, this title has something to really get your teeth into as you figure out the mysteries within the ancient Białowieża Forest. Here’s a clue: there might be werewolves in there.
Vampire Survivors – mobile
Whether you want to play as a hungry werewolf, or simply slaughter droves of blood-lusting beasts, Vampire Survivors has you covered. This idle rogue-like has all the cornerstones of a gothic game, including some vicious ex-humans walking around as bloodthirsty wolves. There is a werewolf character you can play as too, Minnah Mannarah, whose Bloody Tear whip can rip through even the strongest of foes. It might say vampires on the tin, but this title is a treat for werewolf lovers too.
If you haven’t checked Poncle’s rogue-like out yet, see our Vampire Survivors review and Vampire Survivors Legacy of the Moonspell DLC review to see if we can convince you to try it out for yourself.
The Curse of the Werewolves – mobile
The Curse of the Werewolves is a riveting mystery title for mobile, telling the tale of Ashley, a young woman visiting her grandmother after a mysterious call concerns our hero. On arriving at grandma’s, she finds the mansion in a state of disrepair, or in some cases, something even worse. This hidden object quest is all about figuring out what happened to grandma, why the house has evidence of blood rituals, and yes, as you can probably guess, werewolves. We don’t want to spoil it, so we’ll leave it there.
