Aercoustics Engineering Ltd., a leader in acoustics, noise and vibration, is pleased to unveil The Bridge, a state-of-the art room which provides owners, architects, engineers and contractors the ability to experience their spaces before they break ground.
Before The Bridge, the Aercoustics team would simulate acoustical designs by creating digital files and playing them back over headphones or incurring costs to rent rooms and equipment for a simulation.
“No matter how you set up the room, it is very difficult give clients an accurate simulation—especially if you’re trying to simulate environments that are significantly quieter than the room itself,” said Steve Titus, President and CEO of Aercoustics. “We decided we needed The Bridge so every project, big or small, could benefit from simulation and get a more accurate idea of how a space will sound before construction begins.”
The first room of its kind in Canada, its technology can provide accurate audio and visual simulations to clients, to provide better information on their design and budget decisions. Using an array of 12 loudspeakers in a spherical arrangement, The Bridge can recreate any acoustical environment in three dimensions. When combined with a virtual reality simulation, this technology provides an in-depth understanding of the way a space will sound and look before it is built.
A special bass management system ensures accurate reproduction of low frequency sources, such as a bass guitar or a subway train, which is usually difficult to measure and typically not possible in other rooms of the same size.
The Bridge is not limited to Aercoustics design projects. It is a much-needed facility that is available for others in the industry looking to get a more accurate “feel” for their project before it is built.
“With the ability to create the simulations in-house, we can use The Bridge to synthesize any space—concert hall, office, residence or outdoor noise—anything where the client wants to understand how sound will react in a venue,” said Titus. “We have worked on some incredible client projects, but we are particularly excited about The Bridge. This entire project has been a labour of love for our team, starting with a critical need within the industry, and resulting in a really impressive space that will dramatically change the way we can service clients.”
